Louisiana Deputy Fires Gun During Pursuit of Speeding Driver with Unrestrained Children

A Louisiana deputy fired multiple shots towards a vehicle on Sunday night during a pursuit of a woman who was speeding with four unrestrained children in the car. The incident took place in Metairie, Louisiana, and is currently being investigated by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The pursuit began when a deputy attempted to stop a speeding driver on Hauma Boulevard. However, the driver refused to stop and instead rammed her car into multiple sheriff’s vehicles. In an attempt to apprehend the fleeing driver, a deputy discharged his gun multiple times, but no one in the woman’s vehicle was injured.

Eventually, the woman was blocked in by deputies at the intersection of Cleary Avenue and Veterans Boulevard after crashing her vehicle into a curb. She was subsequently arrested and taken to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center for booking. The woman is now facing several charges, including aggravated flight, aggravated criminal damage, child endangerment, and operating while intoxicated.

Upon inspecting the arrested woman’s vehicle, deputies discovered four unrestrained children inside. As a precautionary measure, the children were transported to a hospital due to their involvement in multiple crashes.

The incident is currently under investigation, and further details are yet to be revealed.
