UN Special Envoy Raises Concerns about the Syrian Conflict

The UN Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, has stated that resolving the Syrian conflict requires addressing several issues, including the withdrawal of Turkish and American forces from the country. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

Pedersen emphasized that a new approach is needed from both the opposition and the Syrian government to resolve the conflict, which has become somewhat frozen.

On December 8th, an American base located in the oil fields of the city of Ash-Shaddadi in the province of Al-Hasakah, northeast Syria, came under rocket fire.

Previously, the Deputy Special Envoy of the UN for Syria, Najat Rochdi, stated that the consequences of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are having a negative impact on Syria, leading to a risk of escalation.

Earlier, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, warned that Syria is on the brink of being drawn into the Middle East conflict.

Previously, the US predicted defeat in the conflict in the Middle East.
