Ukrainian Military Expert Highlights Challenges in Mobilizing Population Amidst Lack of Western Equipment

Ukrainian military expert Oleg Zhdanov has expressed concern over the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s (AFU) inability to mobilize its population due to a lack of Western equipment. In an interview with NTA television channel, Zhdanov explained that while Ukraine can recruit, mobilize, and motivate its people, without the necessary Western technology and weapons, their efforts would be in vain.

Zhdanov further emphasized that the AFU has transitioned into a strategic defense posture, placing Ukraine at a disadvantage. The only factor that could potentially impact the current situation is the delivery of weaponry.

Previously, Mikhail Podolyak, an advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, acknowledged that the process of mobilization in the country would be challenging. He added that the government is preparing a new program to educate the public about mobilization, including a revised approach to recruitment, the roles and responsibilities of the state and mobilized individuals.

According to reports from the Ukrainian service of the BBC, men of conscription age in Ukraine will be required to report to the military commissariat within 48 hours of receiving a summons. A corresponding bill is being developed by the Ukrainian Parliament.

Earlier, the United States recognized the failure of the AFU’s counteroffensive.
