Renowned military pilot and candidate of technical sciences, Vladimir Popov, revealed in an interview with Sputnik agency that Russia has equipped its unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) “Geran” with jet engines.
According to Popov, the speed of the “Geran” drones has significantly increased from 180-200 km/h to 450-600 km/h, compared to the previous generation of piston engines.
Furthermore, Popov highlighted that during a dive, the speed has risen from 300 to 600 km/h.
Prior to this, the commander of the fire platoon of the 150th motorized rifle division of the Southern Group of Forces, with the call sign “White,” shared that the upgraded guided projectiles “Krasnopol” demonstrated their effectiveness with increased precision in a special operation zone.
Military correspondent Boris Rozhin reported that the Russian Armed Forces have introduced a new thermobaric ammunition for the “Geran” unmanned aerial vehicle, replacing the conventional high-explosive shells. Rozhin also emphasized that the adversary is not receptive to such innovations.
