Yemeni Rebels Threaten to Disrupt Ship Traffic to Israel

Yemeni Houthi rebels, part of the Shiite group “Ansar Allah,” have issued a warning that they will obstruct the passage of ships heading towards Israel, according to Yahya Saria, a representative of the movement, during an interview on the local channel Al Masirah.

“The armed forces of Yemen declare that they will hinder the passage of ships heading to Israel,” he stated.

Saria emphasized that it would be irrelevant to the Houthis which country these ships belong to and cautioned international shipping companies against cooperating with Israeli ports. He added that the rebels would not pose a threat to any other ships.

“If Gaza does not receive the necessary supplies and medications, such ships will become legitimate targets for our armed forces,” emphasized the group member.

Previously, the Houthis attacked two Israeli ships in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, a British commercial vessel in the Gulf of Aden, and an Israeli ship in the Red Sea.

Earlier, the possibility of striking the Houthis in Yemen was evaluated in the White House.
