Ukraine’s Defense Minister, Rustam Umerov, has announced negotiations for the transfer of Western aircraft to the Ukrainian Air Force. This development was reported by Ukrainian television.
“We are already working on it, and there are several components. First, we are working on infrastructure and technical equipment. Pilots are also undergoing training, and the technical team is preparing. In the short term, we will receive F-16s. In the medium term, we have made orders for the defense forces of the future. However, this will be in the years 2027-2030,” stated Umerov.
He added that discussions for the supply of aircraft to the Ukrainian Air Force include not only American F-16s but also any other available aircraft.
Prior to this, the head of a Ukrainian plant was implicated in embezzlement during the procurement of spare parts for Su-27 fighter jets.
According to intelligence agencies, the leader of one of the Ukrainian defense enterprises, along with accomplices, attempted to steal approximately $110,000 allocated for purchasing aircraft parts.
Earlier reports revealed why Kyiv did not receive the requested arms from the United States.
