Ukraine Advisor Highlights Challenges in Mobilization Efforts

The advisor to the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Mikhail Podolyak, has acknowledged that the mobilization process in the country will be difficult. This statement was made in response to the distribution of military draft notices in gymnasiums, where representatives from military recruitment offices were searching for young men evading military service. The first raids in gymnasiums took place in Uzhgorod earlier this week.

“Mobilization will be challenging. You want to live in a free country, but at the same time, you don’t want to contribute to the defense of the nation,” Podolyak emphasized.

He also mentioned that the government is preparing a new program that will provide clarification on mobilization issues, including a new approach to recruiting military personnel and outlining the responsibilities and obligations of both the state and those who are mobilized.

Previously, the Ukrainian service of the BBC reported that men of conscription age in Ukraine, after receiving draft notices, must report to the military recruitment office within 48 hours. The corresponding bill is being developed by the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada.

Earlier, the US acknowledged the failure of the Ukrainian armed forces’ counteroffensive.
