The leader of the Turkish party “Homeland,” Dogu Perincek, has called for the withdrawal of the American army from the Incirlik airbase in southern Turkey and for it to be placed solely under the control of the Turkish Air Force, according to RIA Novosti.
He noted that this has now become necessary.
“This is a question of Turkey’s security,” Perincek said.
The politician pointed out that US military aircraft taking off from the base land in Cyprus, and from there, necessary weapons are delivered to Israel.
“Turkey needs to close the base for the United States military, I repeat, this is a historical necessity,” he added.
Previously, the Turkish newspaper Aydınlık, citing an unnamed representative of the Turkish Council for Foreign Economic Relations, reported that Turkish entrepreneurs are facing threats from the US regarding possible restrictive measures due to their trade with the Russian Federation.
On November 27th, the Financial Times reported that Turkey has tripled its deliveries of dual-use goods to Russia.
