Israel Intercepts Rockets Launched from Lebanon and Syria

Israel has intercepted rockets that were launched from the territories of Lebanon and Syria, according to a report from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Telegram channel.

“After reports of sirens in the city of Buqata in northern Israel, two launches from Syrian territory were identified. The rockets landed in an uninhabited area. In addition, several launches from Lebanon towards the areas of Shetula, Malkiya, and Zarit in northern Israel were detected. Then, another air alarm sounded in the Zarit area after a launch from Lebanese territory,” the department said.

The IDF is conducting return fire against the rocket launch sites.

Prior to this, the Israeli Air Force struck Hezbollah targets in Lebanese territory.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on October 7 when Hamas announced the start of the “Flood of Al-Aqsa” operation, and thousands of armed supporters of the movement infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country was in a state of war.

The goal of Israel’s counter-operation, named “Iron Swords,” is to repel the attack, free over 200 hostages, including foreigners, and destroy Hamas. As part of achieving this goal, Israel has been carrying out massive missile attacks on the Gaza Strip since the first day of the operation. Meanwhile, the Israeli National Security Council decided to stop the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the strip. Humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza only began on October 21 through the Rafah checkpoint, but their volume is considered insufficient.

On October 27, Israel announced the “expansion” of the ground operation in Gaza. The exact start date of this operation is unknown, but hundreds of thousands of Palestinians had already evacuated their homes and moved to shelters and the southern part of the enclave in anticipation.

Earlier, the possible involvement of Hezbollah in the war was described as a “fatal mistake” in Israel.
