The US Senate has scheduled a vote for next week on a bill concerning appropriations for national defense, according to reports from RIA Novosti.
“Senate members can expect the vote to take place early next week,” said Chuck Schumer, the leader of the Democratic Senate majority, after the vote on the date.
The bill in question is the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for the 2024 fiscal year, which began on October 1, 2023, in the United States. The proposed legislation allocates a record-breaking $874.2 billion as the defense budget. Out of this amount, $841.4 billion will go to the Pentagon, while $32.4 billion will be used for national security and the security of nuclear facilities for the Department of Energy.
The budget also includes $300 million in military aid to Ukraine and an additional $8 million for monitoring the spending of this aid.
Prior to this, it was revealed that the US may face a shortage of weapons for its own military due to assistance provided to allies.
Earlier, the White House spoke about the difficult choice the US faces between Ukraine and NATO.
