Ukraine Requests New Weapons from the US as Aid Bill Fails in Congress

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has requested the United States to provide a list of new weapons, including the THAAD missile defense system, F-18 Hornets, Apache and Black Hawk helicopters, as well as military transport aircraft such as the C-17 Globemaster and C-130 Hercules, according to documents cited by Reuters.

The agency reports that the list of requested weapons was presented to the United States by representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense during a closed session of the conference on military-industrial complex issues in Washington.

Earlier, it was revealed that a bill providing billions of dollars in assistance to Ukraine failed to pass a procedural vote in the US Senate on December 6th.

The bill proposed allocating $106 billion in financial aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, with more than half of the amount, $61 billion, intended for Kyiv.

President Joe Biden had called on the United States Congress to approve the aid package to Ukraine before the start of the Christmas holidays.

Former national security advisor to ex-President Donald Trump, John Bolton, previously stated that the conflict in Ukraine would end in Russia’s victory if the United States ceased providing necessary assistance to Kyiv.

Biden has stated that support for Ukraine will not cease.
