In a recent interview with Fox News, Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov revealed that President Zelensky’s planned “secret briefing” for the US Senate had been canceled due to a changing situation.
“This is a war. The situation is constantly changing. But I believe President Zelensky is grateful for the invitation and will take the opportunity next time,” Umerov stated.
On December 5th, it was announced that Zelensky had last-minute canceled his scheduled video conference with American senators, which was set to take place on Tuesday, December 5th.
Previously, Senator Mitt Romney (Republican from Utah) commented that Vladimir Zelensky did not see the need to speak via video conference at a closed briefing for US senators regarding additional aid to Kyiv.
Alexandra Ustinova, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, revealed that Zelensky’s decision to cancel the briefing with American senators was due to several reasons.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Embassy in the US had offered an explanation for Zelensky’s refusal to speak before the Senate.
