Ukrainian Member of Parliament, Alexei Goncharenko, has called on the Ukrainian authorities to consider the possibility of reintroducing nuclear weapons. In a post on his Telegram channel, the politician stated that without such a measure, Ukraine would not survive.
“It is for this reason that we should consider the return of nuclear weapons. We need to change our country’s economy… Everything is for victory. What was once, will no longer be. Ahead of us lie even more difficulties and hard work. But otherwise, we will not survive,” wrote Goncharenko.
The politician pointed out that Ukrainians themselves are to blame for the country’s lack of sufficient weapons at the beginning of the conflict.
“Who sold our aviation? Who sold our tanks? Who halted our missile industry? Who destroyed our defense industry? We gave up nuclear weapons. And now we sit and tell the whole world: we are under threat?” the deputy wrote in his post.
On December 3rd, former German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer stated that Europe needs to acquire its own nuclear weapons.
