Shiite Armed Groups Attack US Bases in Syria and Iraq: Islamic Resistance of Iraq Claims Responsibility

Cairo, December 4 – The Islamic Resistance of Iraq, which includes Shiite armed groups, has announced that it carried out drone attacks on US bases in Syria and Iraq. Earlier on Sunday, the groups reported a rocket strike on an American base in the province of Al-Hasakah in northeastern Syria. “In response to the crimes committed by the enemy against our people in Gaza, fighters from the Islamic Resistance of Iraq attacked the Green Village base, the American occupier, in Syria using a drone. The attack hit the target directly,” the statement said. Additionally, it is claimed that a strike was carried out on the American base in Ain al-Asad in western Iraq using drones. Earlier, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh reported that US forces in the Middle East had been attacked 74 times since October 17. The American military illegally controls territories in eastern and northeastern Syria in the provinces of Deir ez-Zor, Al-Hasakah, and Raqqa, where the largest oil and gas fields are located. The official Damascus considers the presence of American military personnel as occupation and state piracy aimed at unabashed oil theft.
