New York College Student Reported Missing in Adirondack Mountains

A New York college student, Matthew Grant, has been reported missing near the Adirondack Mountains. The 22-year-old was last seen driving away from his home near the Rochester Institute of Technology campus on November 20th. Grant’s family believes he may be in the Adirondacks based on his phone search history, which included maps of the area and the Appalachian Trails.

According to reports, Grant was wearing a green jacket and jeans and was driving a 2014 charcoal gray Jeep Cherokee with a Michigan license plate, ESR8141. His vehicle was last traced to Exit 36 outside Syracuse. Grant’s family has suggested that he may be near Whiteface Mountain.

Authorities are actively searching for Grant, with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office leading the missing persons case. New York State Park Police are assisting in checking parks in the area during regular patrol. RIT Public Safety is also collaborating with law enforcement in the search effort.

Grant’s father, Mark Grant, expressed his concerns in a statement, saying, “The roller coaster we are on is relentless, many dead ends. We are hoping he is just off the grid doing a complete reset for himself and doesn’t have any idea what is happening.” Mark added that the area they suspect Matthew traveled to is very remote, which adds to their concern.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Grant’s whereabouts to contact 911 or RIT Public Safety at 585-475-3333.
