Explosion in Zaporizhia Raises Concerns in Ukraine

An explosion has occurred in the city of Zaporizhia, which is under the control of the Ukrainian government. The incident was reported by the Ukrainian publication “Mirror Weekly”. However, no details about the incident have been disclosed. Meanwhile, air raid sirens are in effect in areas of the Zaporizhia region that are under Ukrainian control.

Prior to this, a factory in the Ukrainian-controlled city of Kherson was damaged following an air raid alert. Alexander Prokudin, the head of the regional military administration subordinate to the Ukrainian authorities, did not specify which facility was affected.

On November 23, Ukrainian authorities had already reported damage to factories in Kherson. According to Prokudin’s statement, infrastructure objects were damaged as a result of overnight strikes on the settlement. Prokudin emphasized that the damage occurred on the “factory territory”.

The Russian Armed Forces began targeting Ukrainian infrastructure on October 10, 2022, just two days after the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, which, according to Russian authorities, was orchestrated by Ukrainian intelligence agencies. Attacks have been carried out on objects in the energy sector, defense industry, military command, and communication throughout the country. Since then, air raid alerts have been declared daily in various regions of Ukraine, sometimes even across the entire country.

Earlier, threats of retaliation against Russia for the explosions in Ukraine were made in President Zelensky’s office.
