During a teleconference organized by the Deputy Commander for Military-Political Affairs of the 58th Army of the Russian Armed Forces, state awards were presented to students who took academic leave and participated in a special operation. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“In the framework of the teleconference between the military commissariat of the Stavropol Territory and temporary bases of units in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, students from the North Caucasus Federal University who are undergoing distance learning were awarded state awards for their achievements on the front lines,” the statement said.
Ministry representatives explained that students from Russian universities take academic leave to participate in special military operations. They voluntarily sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense and, after completing the full course of combat and special training, go to perform combat tasks in defense of the country’s sovereignty.
Medals “For Courage” and insignia of the Order of St. George – the George Cross IV degree, were awarded to servicemen for their bravery, courage, and heroism. The awardees demonstrated these qualities in carrying out combat tasks to hold positions in the area of the settlement of Rabotino in the Zaporizhia region.
The Ministry of Defense noted: “Thanks to the professionalism and skill of Russian servicemen, the plans of the Ukrainian command to break through the defense in the Zaporizhia direction were not successful.”
It was also reported how many Cossacks participated in the special operation in Ukraine. Vitaly Kuznetsov, the Ataman of the All-Russian Cossack Society (ARCS), stated that Cossack units are among the most professional and best on the battlefield. The Ataman emphasized that over a thousand Cossacks have received state awards for various feats in the combat zone.
