In a recent development, Kirill Lysogorsky, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, has made a startling accusation against Ukrainian intelligence agencies. Lysogorsky claims that these agencies have been using chemical weapons against the leaders of the regions that recently joined Russia. This accusation comes as Lysogorsky leads the Russian delegation at a meeting of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
According to reports, the new authorities in these regions have been targeted with “toxic chemicals and psychotropic substances.” Lysogorsky further asserts that Russia possesses undeniable evidence of the delivery of these dangerous substances from the United States and its allied countries to Ukraine.
This accusation follows an earlier statement by Yan Gagin, an advisor to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), who claimed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been using chemical weapons in the Artemovsk and Donetsk regions. Gagin specifically mentioned the use of chloropicrin and noted that the military personnel experienced specific smells in the air before exhibiting symptoms of poisoning.
It is worth mentioning that instructions for manufacturing chemical weapons were also discovered on members of the Hamas Palestinian movement who infiltrated Israel.
This latest accusation by a Russian official adds fuel to the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the broader geopolitical landscape.
