Russia Helps Palestinian Refugees in Dagestan as Conflict Escalates in Gaza

Moscow, November 25 – Approximately 50 refugees from Palestine have arrived in Dagestan, announced the head of the republic, Sergey Melikov, in a Telegram channel. “The first group of refugees from Palestine has arrived in Dagestan. Our country always comes to the aid of those whose rights are violated, protects them, provides them with food and shelter. And now we will help the representatives of the Palestinian people adapt to new conditions, support them, and provide them with opportunities for education and work,” he emphasized. According to Melikov, around 50 people have arrived in the republic. They are being transported to temporary accommodation centers, where all the necessary facilities for comfortable living are available. Melikov personally takes control of all issues related to the settlement of the refugees. Earlier today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Russia has evacuated 762 out of 950 people from the Gaza Strip. The department emphasized that these measures will continue. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which is linked to territorial interests, has been a source of tension and clashes in the region for decades. The UN resolution in 1947 defined the creation of two states – Israel and Palestine, but only Israel emerged. A new wave of confrontation began after an unprecedented rocket attack from the Gaza Strip on the morning of October 7. Following the massive shelling, Hamas fighters infiltrated the border areas in the south of the Jewish state, firing at both military and civilian targets and taking hostages. The military wing of the movement, “Al-Qassam Brigades,” announced the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. In response, the Israel Defense Forces launched the “Iron Swords” operation. In the days following the attack, Israeli forces took control of all populated areas along the Gaza Strip border and began airstrikes on various targets, including civilian ones, in the enclave. In addition, Tel Aviv announced a complete blockade of Gaza: water, food, electricity, medicine, and fuel deliveries have been suspended. At the end of October, the ground phase of the Israeli operation began: troops surrounded the city of Gaza, effectively dividing the enclave into southern and northern parts. According to the latest data, the number of casualties in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 14,800, including over 6,000 children. Another 36,000 have been injured. In Israel, more than 1,200 people have died, including 20 Russians. Moreover, according to various estimates, around 200-250 people may be held captive by Hamas.
