Russian air defense systems have successfully shot down two Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jets, according to a statement released by the Russian Ministry of Defense. The incidents occurred in the areas of Pershotravensk and Braginovka, populated regions near the conflict zone.
This announcement follows the Ministry of Defense’s earlier report of shooting down a MiG-29 aircraft and a Mi-8 helicopter from the Ukrainian Air Force within the past week. Additionally, Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 176 unmanned aerial vehicles belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the same period.
In early November, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu revealed that within the Special Military Operation zone, a total of 37 Ukrainian aircraft had been successfully downed in a month. Shoigu emphasized that this number is nearly twice as many as the guaranteed supply of F-16 aircraft to Kyiv. Overall, 1,400 air attack assets of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed in October.
Dmitry Perminov, a Russian senator and hero of Russia, previously highlighted that Russian air defense had begun shooting down Ukrainian aircraft at a considerable distance from the front line. He attributed this success to the effective coordination between detection systems and aviation.
