China has announced plans to conduct military exercises along its border with Myanmar, according to the spokesperson of the Southern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Tian Junli. The exercises, set to begin on November 25, aim to test the mobility of the army, as well as the effectiveness of border control and the firepower of military units.
This announcement comes after the Russian Navy Chief, Admiral Evmenov, arrived in Myanmar for a working visit. The Russian military delegation, led by Evmenov, aims to strengthen the naval cooperation between Russia and Myanmar, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
During the visit, the Russian delegation is expected to meet with the leadership of the republic and the command of the Myanmar Navy. Additionally, a ceremony will be held to mark the opening of the first-ever joint naval exercises between Russia and Myanmar in modern history. The program also includes visits to warships and cultural events.
It is worth noting that Myanmar recently received two Russian fighter jets as part of their military cooperation.
