A tragic incident unfolded at a Hamptons home when a Long Island man allegedly fatally beat his friend in a night of heavy drinking before asking a handyman to help clean up the mess, authorities say. The suspect, identified as Jeremy Allen, was arrested after the police found the body of 43-year-old Christopher Hahn, who had been pummeled and stabbed to death, stashed under a tarp on Allen’s back patio.
According to reports, both Allen and his friend were discussing their next 12-step program when they got into a heated argument that escalated into violence. Prosecutors at Allen’s arraignment revealed that the altercation ended with the suspect beating Hahn before stabbing him in the head, ultimately killing him.
During the court proceedings, Suffolk County prosecutor Elana Tomaro informed Southampton Town Justice Adam Grossman that there is video footage of the brutal attack and that it is “brutal and heinous to watch.” Allen’s lawyer confirmed that both men were heavily intoxicated when they got into “an altercation that grew more violent,” which eventually led to the fatal incident.
The outlet states that an enraged Allen allegedly beat Hahn for as long as six hours before using “a large knife” to stab him in the head and neck. Afterward, Allen texted a handyman from the area and asked him to help clean up the house. However, when the handyman saw the bloodied body, he informed Allen that he needed bleach to complete the task and instead called Southampton Town Police, who arrived at the scene shortly before 10 a.m.
Hahn was pronounced dead at the site, and Allen was arrested approximately an hour later. He has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the incident. Additionally, Allen is facing other legal issues, including a pending rape case in Southampton and being on probation for a 2022 conviction of drunken driving in Ulster County, as per Newsday’s report.
Southampton police have referred questions to Suffolk County cops, who could not be reached for comment on the matter.
