Trump Slams Harris over Undocumented Immigrant Crime Stats; Proposes Tariffs on Chinese Cars

Former President Donald Trump recently blamed Vice President Kamala Harris for the concerning number of migrants living in the United States without legal documentation who have been convicted or accused of homicide. Trump, now aged 78, criticized federal data which revealed that over 15,000 undocumented immigrants had been charged with or found guilty of murder during a town hall event held in Warren, Michigan.

The former president referred to the data, which was provided to Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as “the worst numbers I think I’ve ever heard.” As of July 21, there were 662,566 non-citizens with criminal histories in ICE’s national docket. This list included 13,099 convicted of homicide and 1,845 individuals currently facing pending charges for murder.

According to the agency, 277 undocumented immigrants who have been found guilty of homicide are currently being held in detention centers by ICE, with an additional 51 detainees awaiting trial for homicide-related charges. Trump emphasized that these individuals were released into the country, adding, “We can’t put up with this.

During his town hall event, Trump focused primarily on discussing the automobile industry and his proposal to implement new tariffs if elected to a second term in the White House. He argued that imposing heavy tariffs on Chinese automobiles manufactured in Mexico but intended for sale in the United States would lead to a major resurgence of American auto manufacturing, with production levels reaching heights not seen in half a century.

Chinese automakers] think they’re going to make the cars and sell them here and close up Detroit, close up everything in this area, close up South Carolina – and it’s not going to happen, because we’re going to put very heavy tariffs on those cars coming across the border,” Trump explained. We’re not going to let it happen.

Toward the end of the town hall event, Trump shifted his focus back to immigration issues and criticizing Vice President Harris. He labeled her as someone who “always complains and doesn’t do anything.” Trump made note of Harris’ recent trip to the US-Mexico border, remarking, “She’s on the border today. What a day for the border.
