Senseless Tragedy Strikes Farnhamville: Teen’s Body Found, Perp Charged with Murder

A heart-wrenching tragedy has unfolded in the small town of Farnhamville, Iowa, with the discovery of a missing teenage girl’s body mere hours after her mother and sister encountered a man believed to be the perpetrator carrying her scooter and covered in blood. Michele “Luna” Jackson, 17, was reported missing on Sunday night. Her mother and sister embarked on their own search, leading them to Nathaniel Bevers-McGivney who appeared visibly soaked with blood and holding some of the teenager’s belongings, including her scooter, according to court documents obtained by KCCI.

Bevers-McGivney refused to engage in conversation about the blood stains covering him, only requesting a lawyer before being taken into custody at Carroll County Jail as the search for Jackson continued. Tragically, the girl’s body was discovered in a field shortly before 9 a.m. on Monday by authorities who believe Bevers-McGivney intentionally hid her remains to cover up his alleged crime.

The specific cause of death has not been made public; however, Jackson’s obituary stated that she died as the result of “a senseless act of violence.” In response, Bevers-McGivney was charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse for failing to reveal the location of her body. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 4th for his preliminary hearing.

Luna Jackson was a junior at Southeast Valley High School. A private funeral service has been planned for Thursday at a funeral home in Gowrie.
