Former US Attorney General William Barr has criticized the Justice Department for publicly disclosing a chilling letter from Ryan Wesley Routh, who is alleged to have attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump earlier this month. Prosecutors released the disturbing note as proof of his intention to kill Trump. In a court filing on Monday, they claimed that the letter was authored by suspect Ryan Routh and left with an acquaintance prior to the shooting. The letter offers a bounty of $150,000 for anyone who can complete the job. Some critics have noted how authorities declined to release the Nashville shooter’s lengthy manifesto carried out by a suspect who allegedly identified as a transgender man that shot up Covenant School last year and killed six people, including three children.
