Oran Routh, son of Ryan Routh who was arrested following an alleged assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at his golf course in Florida, says his father hates Trump just as “every reasonable person does.” However, Oran claims that his father is not a violent individual and expressed shock when he learned about the allegations.
Ryan Routh, 58, was reportedly armed with an AK-47 and was located just a few hundred yards away from Trump at the Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach. A Secret Service agent spotted the suspect sticking his rifle barrel through a chain fence on the outskirts of the golf course. After opening fire, Routh fled but was captured shortly afterward.
Oran Routh stated that he was unaware of his father’s presence in Florida, assuming he was in Hawaii when they last spoke. The two have had a falling out and grown apart, though Oran did not elaborate on the details of their estrangement. He also mentioned that he does not believe his father owned a gun or would engage in such violent behavior.
Following the incident, Ryan Routh has been described as having a criminal background dating back to his time in North Carolina and has been a vocal supporter for Ukraine in its fight against Russia. This marks the second time in around two months that Trump has faced an assassination attempt while running for president against Vice President Kamala Harris for a return to the White House.
