Park City Coach on Leave Over Blame-shifting Remark

A high school girls’ volleyball coach in Park City, Utah, is currently on administrative leave as allegations against him are investigated by local authorities and school officials. Kai Nielsen has been accused of placing blame on female students for future sexual assaults, stating that any such incidents would be their fault.

The incident reportedly occurred during a discussion about accountability led by Coach Nielsen. A teacher who was present at the time confirmed to the Salt Lake Tribune that Nielsen made this disturbing and ill-informed claim. The first person to report the comment was a parent whose child had been in attendance for Nielsen’s speech, prompting them to contact district leaders immediately.

An email sent out to parents informed them that the duration of the investigation is still undetermined, though local police are also involved in the matter. School officials have already conducted interviews with several students, as reported by the Salt Lake Tribune.

Kai Nielsen, who has been coaching at Park City High for over a decade and was recently promoted to head coach of the varsity team, could not be reached for comment by the Post. The situation remains under investigation, and it is unclear when a resolution can be expected.
