He criticized Republicans in Congress for failing to check executive power abuses but commended Harris for her sworn fidelity to the rule of law as a former local prosecutor and state attorney general. Gonzalez also defended Harris against criticism over economic policy decisions, stating that vice presidents have limited influence on such matters. Dick Cheney, who served as Vice President under George W. Bush, endorsed Kamala Harris last week as well.
