Alaska Ice Collision Sparks Titanic Comparisons on Carnival Spirit Cruise

A recent event involving a Carnival Cruise ship in Alaska’s Tracy Arm Fjord has drawn attention as it was likened to the tragic incident of the Titanic by one passenger. Last Thursday, the Carnival Spirit cruise ship reportedly grazed a piece of ice while navigating through the Alaskan waters. However, upon inspection, the hull remained undamaged and no damages were found. Carnival Cruise Line shared this information in a statement to The Post.

The incident did not halt the vessel’s journey as it continued on its seven-day cruise, which is expected to conclude with the ship docking at Seattle, Washington on Tuesday. Despite the absence of actual damage, passengers and other social media users could not help but indulge in some dramatic interpretations of the event.

Cassandra Goskie, a passenger on the Carnival Spirit, recorded a video where she humorously compared the encounter with the ice to a “Titanic moment,” stating, “If we die, it was damn well worth it.” The video shows her recording as the ship collides with the floating ice, while other passengers can be seen gathered around the side deck to witness the event.

Another passenger on board shared pictures with a meteorologist who then reposted them on their account, which showed a tugboat following behind the Spirit easily sailing over the mostly submerged ice. This incident comes shortly after another Carnival cruise ship, the Carnival Vista, had to reroute its Caribbean trip due to an engine problem, causing passengers to demand refunds.
