Georgia School Shooter Faces Murder Charges: Gray Family Courts Confrontation

The suspected Georgia school shooter, Colt Gray, appeared in shackles in court on Friday after being charged with four counts of murder for the rampage at Apalachee High School on Wednesday. His father, Colin Gray, was also present in court and faces up to 180 years in prison if convicted of helping his son obtain the AR-style rifle allegedly used in the massacre. Colt Gray is being held at the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center and is facing a possible life sentence instead of the death penalty due to his age, as he is younger than 18 years old. The victims’ relatives attended the back-to-back hearings, some tearfully clutching soft toys. Colt Gray allegedly admitted to investigators that “I did it” after being taken into custody. No motive for the shooting has been released yet, and authorities are investigating if there were any additional warning signs after a previous visit to their home over a school shooting threat made on social media in May 2023.
