Trump Campaign Raises $130M in August with Strong Small-Dollar Donations

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign announced on Wednesday that it had raised $130 million last month, with the majority of donations being small-dollar contributions, totaling to a massive cash reserve of $295 million two months before Election Day. Trump campaign Senior Advisor Brian Hughes expressed optimism about the campaign’s momentum, stating “the Trump-Vance campaign has momentum for the final stretch of the race.

Almost all of August donations were under $200, resulting in an average contribution of $56 from everyday Americans. Although Trump’s August haul was slightly less than the previous month’s total ($138.7 million), it still indicates strong support for his America First movement and his bid to regain the White House.

The Trump campaign outspent Kamala Harris in four key swing states: Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, and North Carolina between July 22 and August 25, according to ad-tracking firm Ad Impact and NPR. Despite the significant spending by Trump’s campaign, his war chest remains smaller than the $327 million reported at the end of July as the 2024 race heats up.

While the Trump campaign has yet to release its August fundraising numbers, Kamala Harris raised an impressive $540 million since replacing President Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket in July, including $82 million during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. This amount surpasses any presidential campaign’s record for funds raised within a comparable time frame. In July alone, Harris raised a stunning $310 million for her campaign and authorized committees, more than double Trump’s total for that month.
