A previously deported migrant, suspected of criminal activity across multiple US states since his return to the country, was arrested in Indiana following a stabbing at a baseball game. The suspect, Dimas Gabriel Yanez, 26, was taken into custody after an intense manhunt that lasted for several days.
The incident occurred during a baseball game in Lowell, Indiana when a 14-year-old girl was stabbed with a butcher-style knife by Yanez. The attacker also attempted to stab the girl’s mother as she tried to help her daughter; fortunately, both were able to escape with their lives and receive medical attention.
Yanez was quickly identified as the prime suspect in the case, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department issued a warning that he should be considered armed and dangerous. The manhunt eventually led to Yanez being found running through a cornfield in southern Indiana, where law enforcement officers were able to apprehend him after a foot chase.
Upon his arrest, investigators discovered that Yanez had been deported to Honduras in 2018 and may have been involved in criminal activities across the United States since returning to the country illegally. The US Department of Homeland Security has been notified of his arrest.
Currently, Yanez is being held at the Lake County jail while the investigation continues. Further details about the earlier crimes he is suspected of committing and their locations have yet to be released by authorities.
