The photographs taken from this event have been shared on social media platforms and are seen as a reflection of his hold over the party’s key players. This display of power has drawn criticism from Republican strategists, with Matt Wolking mocking the situation by referring to these politicians as “pets” being owned by a young billionaire.
Alex Soros’ new fiancee, Huma Abedin, who was Hillary Clinton’s former aide, was also present at the event, along with other prominent figures such as Tim Walz, Minnesota Governor and vice presidential nominee, former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, and former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.
The gathering provided an opportunity for Alex Soros to meet with Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett, who he identified as a “rising star” in the Democratic Party. Additionally, he spent time with other notable politicians such as Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.
Soros also networked with New York’s top political leaders, including Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, the House minority leader, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. His close relationship with Schumer is evident through his financial contributions to the Senate Majority PAC, amounting to more than $5.5 million since 2016.
As a leading figure in the Democratic Party’s fundraising efforts, Alex Soros and his father, hedge fund billionaire George Soros, have contributed significantly to various campaigns. In 2022 alone, George Soros provided over $175 million to Democrats during the midterm elections. The Open Society Foundations, chaired by Alex, support radical left-wing causes worldwide with a $25 billion philanthropy fund.
Critics argue that the Democratic Party is becoming increasingly reliant on wealthy donors like the Soros family, as exemplified by their contributions and presence at events such as the national convention.
