Baruch College Climbs Forbes’ List of Top State Universities: A Cost-Effective, Low-Debt Education Powerhouse

Bernard M Baruch College, a part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system, has made its mark on Forbes’ list of top 25 state universities in the United States, securing the No. 22 spot. While this is indeed an impressive achievement, it’s important to note that Baruch College has slid a few positions down from its ranking last year at No. 19.

Despite this minor setback, Forbes continues to hold Bernard M Baruch College in high regard, stating it is “one of the most cost-effective colleges on our list” and provides a “good return on investment.” This positive evaluation has helped cement the college’s position as one of the nation’s top institutions of higher learning.

Baruch College boasts affordable tuition rates for both New York residents and out-of-state students. For residents, the annual cost is $31,482, while for non-residents, it stands at $39,432 – but these amounts do not account for any student aid that may be available.

Another impressive aspect of Baruch College, as highlighted by Forbes, is its commitment to serving low-income students. Among the four-year public colleges with at least 300 undergraduates featured on the list, Baruch has “the highest percentage of low-income students.” In fact, a staggering 52% of Baruch’s undergraduate population receives Pell grants – a form of federal financial aid for students in need.

Baruch College is also known for its reasonable student loan burden. According to Forbes, only 11% of the college’s undergraduates take out loans to finance their education, and the median debt burden for these students sits at just $10,000. This low-debt environment makes Baruch an attractive option for students looking for a high-quality education without amassing significant debt.

Meanwhile, California has emerged as a dominant force in Forbes’ top 25 list of state universities, securing eight spots – including the first and second positions. The University of California-Berkeley, renowned for its exceptional academic reputation, tops the list at No. 1. Following closely behind is the University of California-Los Angeles, which has secured the No. 2 spot. Rounding out the top three is the University of Florida.

At No. 22 on the list, Baruch College has managed to surpass other esteemed institutions such as Texas A & M University-College Station, North Carolina State University at Raleigh, and San Diego State University. This accomplishment further solidifies Bernard M Baruch College’s reputation as a leading educational institution within the United States.
