A man accused of murdering a Texas college student in an “execution-style” at her apartment has a history of using sugar daddy dating websites to prey on young women, authorities have said. Bobby Singh Shah, who was charged with capital murder for the death of Muna Pandey, 21, allegedly met the female tipster on a website that connects wealthy older men with much younger women, according to court documents cited by ABC 13.
Pandey, a community college student from Nepal, was discovered in her southwest Houston apartment on Monday with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. Living alone, Pandey had installed a surveillance camera outside her front door after previously being harassed by a stalker, her friends told Houston police, according to the station.
Footage from the camera allegedly revealed images of Shah entering and leaving Pandey’s apartment on Sunday. In the video, Pandey is reportedly heard asking a man holding a gun, “What are you going to do?” The suspect then racks the gun and pushes her inside the apartment at 8:41 p.m., before leaving approximately an hour later carrying her black purse, according to the station.
A woman contacted the Houston police earlier this week after the department released footage of the attacker leaving Pandey’s home in an effort to identify the man. The caller told cops she instantly recognized Shah, and had met him on a “sugar daddy” website 12 years prior.
Police believe Pandey, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds, knew her attacker and that he took her cellphone after killing her.
Pandey was a nursing student at Houston Community College and worked at a local phone store. We demand justice for Muna Pandey, my dear friend and former roommate, who was tragically taken from us,” her former roommate Orusha Niraula wrote in a Facebook post. She was always full of life, kindness, and joy.
