Harris’ Body Language Flounders: A Quest for Confidence and Power

Vice President Kamala Harris failed to exude presidential confidence in her first television interview following the replacement of President Joe Biden as the leader of the Democratic ticket, according to body language expert Susan Constantine. The vice president displayed an overall lack of confidence and presence on stage while participating in the interview with CNN’s Dana Bash at a Savannah, Georgia coffee shop.

Constantine pointed out that Harris frequently looked down during the interview, avoiding eye contact as she tried to answer questions about policy reversals and her presidential agenda. According to Constantine, this behavior removed fluidity and authenticity from the vice president’s responses. The body language expert also noted that when Harris struggled to provide clear answers, she would engage in head bobbling, a behavior often associated with uncertainty and lack of preparation.

Furthermore, Constantine observed that Harris consistently sought acknowledgment from running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz during the interview, appearing to seek approval from him on her responses. This was seen as an attempt to use Walz as a crutch in case the line of questioning became too challenging. Walz ended up speaking for roughly a quarter of the approximately 27-minute conversation.

Constantine’s overall assessment was that Harris, who is aiming to become the first female president of the United States this November, did not “look like a woman in power.” The body language expert emphasized the importance of appearing confident and poised on stage for women seeking positions of power, and stated that Vice President Kamala Harris currently does not meet those standards.
