Nashville Police Release Dramatic Video of Tackling Fugitive Wanted for Murder.
Police in Nashville, Tennessee have released dramatic video footage of an officer tackling a fugitive who had been on the run for over a year. The suspect, 30-year-old Tyrone Walker, was wanted for the murder of 39-year-old Cecil Holmes Jr., which took place in August 2021. Walker was indicted in April 2023 on charges of first-degree murder and possession of a gun as a felon, with detectives working tirelessly to locate him since the indictment.
Earlier this month, detectives discovered that Walker had been driving around the Edgehill area in a gold SUV. Police officers watched from above in a helicopter outfitted with night vision technology while they monitored the situation on the ground. Officers deployed a spike strip near the exit of a nearby housing development to help stop the vehicle.
The police department posted a video clip of the operation on social media, showing the suspect’s vehicle driving through the residential area before coming to a halt. As the vehicle reached the exit, Walker was seen getting out and running away from the SUV as an officer chased him around a set of buildings. Once close enough, the officer lunged at Walker and tackled him to the ground.
Upon being taken into custody, it is reported that Walker tossed a pistol with an extended magazine onto the ground. He was then processed and booked, with a judge ordering that he be held without bond pending a hearing.
Walker has multiple previous convictions, including aggravated burglary, theft, and cocaine possession.
The police also stated that two other individuals were found inside the vehicle with Walker at the time of his arrest. Both were arrested as well since they were wanted on outstanding probation violation warrants.
