Harris’ Rising Popularity: Shaking Up Polls & Fundraisers

Vice President Kamala Harris’ popularity continues to rise in recent polls, with her leading former President Donald Trump by 8 points in a Marquette Law School poll. The vice president also gained an advantage over Trump in the Cook Political Report’s election handicapper, which shifted three states from “Lean Republican” to toss-up: Arizona, Georgia and Nevada. Although some recent polls still show Trump leading, the general trend is that the race has been tightening considerably. As of now, Harris holds a 0.5 percentage point lead over Trump in a one-on-one contest according to RealClearPolitics aggregate, with the lead growing to 0.8 points when third-party contenders are added. The newly formed Democratic ticket led by Kamala Harris and her running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has also seen a robust fundraising haul, including $310 million raised during the month of July.
