Harris’ No-Show at Netanyahu Speech Stirs Controversy and Comparisons to Hamas

House Speaker Mike Johnson criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for not attending Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to a joint session of Congress. Instead, she opted to address the historically black Zeta Phi Beta sorority in Indiana. The decision sparked controversy and some compared it to siding with the terrorist organization Hamas. Johnson expressed his disappointment during an appearance on the Fox Business Network with former Trump administration economist Larry Kudlow. He was particularly surprised by Harris’ absence, as her role also involves presiding over the Senate.

Kamala Harris’ actions drew ire from both sides of the political spectrum, with some even comparing her to siding with Hamas fighters who attacked Israel last October, resulting in over 1,300 deaths and numerous hostages, most of whom have since been killed. Johnson, however, praised Netanyahu’s speech as a successful attempt to project strength on behalf of Israel, commit to the return of American and Israeli hostages, and clarify his mission in the region.

The support for America’s relationship with Israel has traditionally been a bipartisan issue, but Johnson noted that it was “shameful” for Kamala Harris not to be present during Netanyahu’s speech. He emphasized that her decision will require an explanation.

In other news, a recent survey conducted by SSRS on behalf of CNN revealed that 49% of respondents support former President Donald Trump, while 46% back Vice President Kamala Harris. The poll was conducted among registered voters who had previously participated in CNN surveys in April and June. These results come as good news for Trump following President Joe Biden’s decision to drop his re-election bid and endorse his vice president.

Additionally, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk took a jab at Kamala Harris on social media after Biden endorsed her. Musk shared an older video clip of Harris introducing herself by stating her pronouns and mentioning that she is wearing a blue suit. He captioned the post with “Imagine 4 years of this…” The tweet suggests that Musk does not believe Kamala Harris would be a suitable choice for president, reflecting growing skepticism towards her potential candidacy in 2024.
