Uniting for the Future: Trump’s RNC Speech Aims for National Harmony

Former President Donald Trump will close out the Republican National Convention on Thursday night with a speech accepting the party’s presidential nomination. Speaking to the Washington Examiner, Trump said his speech was not the same one he planned to give after narrowly surviving an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania last Saturday. Instead, he will be giving a speech that calls for national unity and coming together.

CNN’s Abby Phillips and pollster Frank Luntz discussed the speech and the massive enthusiasm at the RNC this week. Luntz mentioned that he had never seen a convention like this before, with people from various backgrounds uniting behind Trump. He also expressed his hope that Trump would deliver a speech focused on unity and working together, which could make the convention a great success.

This comes as 72 percent of voters believe Biden should not run for a second term, up nine points from February. A recent CBS News/YouGov poll highlights potential concerns among voters about Biden’s ability to complete his term, with Democrats expressing concerns about his age, decisions he might make in office, and his record as president.
