Standing with Criminals”: Ex-Cop’s RNC Warning Against Biden & Harris on Public Safety

In a recent address to the Republican National Convention (RNC), retired Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Lieutenant Randy Sutton declared that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris “stand with criminals” in a battle for the soul of America. Sutton, who holds the distinction of being the most decorated cop in the history of the department, used his platform at the convention to salute former President Donald Trump, who survived an assassination attempt just a few days prior.

Speaking to The Post via phone from Milwaukee on Tuesday night, Sutton recalled that addressing the RNC was a unique experience for him: “I’ve never had an experience like it.” Despite his extensive background as a public speaker, he admitted that “in my wildest imagination, I could have never felt what it was like to be up at this stage, addressing not only the massive crowd that was in the audience, but also knowing that millions of people, tens of thousands of American law enforcement officers were watching and knowing that I had a sacred duty to address this nation and tell them the words that I said.

Sutton explained that while he wanted to adjust his remarks in light of Trump’s near-death experience, the RNC asked him to stick to his original script. As a result, Sutton told the audience that criminals fear “the once and future President of the United States,” prompting Trump to stand up and demonstrate his approval for the statement.

As a retired Las Vegas police officer with 34 years of service, Sutton is now the president of The Wounded Blue, an organization designed to help injured officers seek and obtain necessary assistance. He stated that the group “is a resource for every single police officer in America, and we live by this motto, ‘never forgotten, never alone.

Sutton will be publishing a book later this year titled “Rescuing 911: The Fight for America’s Safety,” which will address some of the current issues faced by law enforcement. He told the convention audience that “we’re experiencing a plague of crime across America, the endless tsunami of illegal aliens, no consequences for violent crime, the abuse of our criminal justice system — it has all made America more dangerous than ever before.

He went on to say that if the radical left succeeds in defunding and destroying policing as we know it, “they will break apart the cornerstone of our system, law and order.” Sutton also commented that Trump displayed the same kind of courage exhibited by injured officers while wounded in the line of duty.

The courage that it took for President Trump, seconds after he was shot, with blood pouring from that injury, to stand up and raise his fist in what I can only say is an act of defiance against those that would harm him, was truly a moment that I will never forget.
