Including third-party candidates like RFK Jr., Trump still held a lead with 45% support to Biden’s 38. The most troubling aspect of this data is that it highlights President Biden losing significant portions of his key demographic bases, such as ten points among independents and 19 points among black voters since May. In comparison, Trump has seen a two-point increase among independents and a four-point bump among black voters in the same timeframe.
A head-to-head matchup shows Trump leading Biden by eight points among independents. Among black respondents, 51% support Biden while Trump sees 28% support. The poll correlates with previous reports of President Biden losing key Democrat voting blocs’ support.
CNN’s senior political data analyst, Harry Enten, was visibly stunned during a June network segment by the rising level of support among black Americans for former President Donald Trump. He noted that this level of support has reached a historic high in the modern era for a Republican presidential contender and will be crucial to winning battleground states like Georgia and Wisconsin.
Enten also highlighted the fact that while older black voters still support Biden, he is losing significant amounts of support from younger black voters.
