Unprecedented Attempt: Assassin Targets Trump at Rally

The failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday revealed that the gunman had positioned himself atop a building more than 130 yards away from the stage where Trump spoke. This distance is slightly longer than a football field, and it was made possible by the open-air nature of the event held at the Butler Farm Show grounds, which provided the sniper with an unobstructed line of sight to his target.

The shooter was killed by a counter-sniper team that returned fire from the roof of another building close to Trump’s location, which was situated behind the audience stands. The building where the gunman’s body was later discovered is part of AGR International, Inc., a supplier of automation equipment for the glass and plastic packaging industry whose land directly borders the farm show grounds, separated only by a chain-link fence.

The shots were fired from atop one of the buildings within the AGR International complex, which is located behind and to the left of the stands filled with rally attendees who were looking towards the stage as Trump spoke. The building, identified on Google Street View as building 6 in the complex, is situated further away from nearby Whitestown Road and Evans City Road than any of its neighboring structures.

Besides a few trees located on AGR International’s property, the building’s rooftop offered an unimpeded view to the farm show grounds, with nothing but grass separating the gunman’s rifle from Trump’s head. An AR-style semi-automatic assault rifle was recovered from the scene, according to law enforcement sources cited by The Associated Press.
