A chilling account has emerged of witnesses who desperately tried to warn police about a rifle-toting sniper crawling on a roof moments before gunfire erupted at a Trump rally on Saturday. The man, wearing a MAGA 2020 hat, told BBC News, “You could clearly see him with a rifle.” He added that they were pointing out the potential threat to the police below, who seemed unsure of what was happening.
The witness and his friends claim they tried to warn the police for several minutes as Secret Service members watched on, choosing not to take action until after shots were fired, which he said “100%” came from the rifle-carrying man. The gunman was up there for at least three to four minutes, during which time witnesses were frantically trying to get law enforcement’s attention.
Only when the gunman started firing did police finally act, taking down the threat with lethal force: “They blew his head off.” Elon Musk posted a video of the incident on X and called for the resignation of both the Secret Service chief and the leader of this particular security detail.
Another witness to the attempted assassination said he twice tried to warn a police officer about the gunman before the shots rang out, but it wasn’t until after the fact that officers acknowledged their concerns and acted accordingly.
