Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville recently warned that sticking with President Joe Biden atop the ticket is just what former President Donald Trump wants. During an interview on MSNBC, host Andrea Mitchell cited Carville’s previous statements about having former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton moderate some town halls to find out who voters want to replace Biden. Mitchell then asked if this proposal was a recipe for chaos.
Carville responded by saying that it might be chaos, but the Democratic Party is currently doing exactly what Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago wants them to do. He went on to criticize Washington types who quibble over the details of his town hall idea and argued that they should act like they are in danger of losing an election to a major criminal who could destroy the Western alliance, the Constitution, and everything in between.
Carville mentioned that he thinks Democratic Party elites such as Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Hakeem Jeffries are mortified by the current situation and want to make a change. He criticized the Democratic Party establishment for sticking with a losing tactic that benefits Trump simply because new plans to find a more viable candidate “don’t have the details flushed out yet.
Carville also expressed concern about the donor class shutting down, as they are not only shutting down contributions to the Biden campaign but also to the Senate committee and the House committee. He concluded by saying that if the Democratic Party continues on its current path, it will make a lot of people unhappy.
