First Lady Jill Biden has publicly affirmed her support for her husband, President Joe Biden, in his bid to remain in office for another term. Despite calls from some within their own party to withdraw from the 2024 race, both Bidens remain steadfast in their commitment to the campaign.
Speaking to a crowd in North Carolina, Jill Biden emphasized her husband’s dedication to running for re-election and her support for him, stating that “Joe has made it clear he is all in,” and that she stands firmly by his side. This display of unity comes as the president faces criticism from within his party over his debate performance against former President Trump, with some suggesting he is no longer suited to the role of president.
In response to these calls for him to step aside, Joe Biden has so far declined, writing a letter to corrupt Democrats urging them to move on and focus their efforts on defeating Donald Trump. In the letter, he reiterated his commitment to running the race through to its conclusion, stating that he has had numerous conversations with party leaders, elected officials, rank-and-file members, and Democratic voters, all of whom have voiced their concerns about the election.
Biden responded by emphasizing his belief that he is the best person to defeat Donald Trump in 2024. He argued that the nomination process was open to anyone who wished to run, with only three individuals choosing to challenge him. One left the primaries to run as an independent, while another faced criticism for being too old and ultimately lost.
Joe Biden’s strong performance in the Democratic nomination process has solidified his position as the presumptive nominee for the 2024 election. With over 14 million votes, representing 87% of all votes cast across the nominating process, and nearly 3,900 delegates, Biden’s lead is significant.
However, some within his own party continue to call for him to withdraw from the race, citing concerns about his ability to effectively debate Trump as a reason for their stance. Despite this, both Joe and Jill Biden remain committed to continuing their campaign and have refused to bow to pressure from those seeking to force their hand.
In an appearance on MSNBC, Joe Biden issued a warning to those within the Democratic Party who might attempt to challenge him or force him out of the race, stating that “we’re not going anywhere—I am not going anywhere.” This strong display of unity and determination from both Bidens is expected to bolster their chances in the upcoming election, as they continue to work towards defeating Donald Trump in 2024.
