Manhunt for Kips Bay Homicide: Vigilante Justice Unleashed

In Kips Bay on Monday, a heart-pounding video captured an angry mob of neighbors attempting to pummel a person of interest in connection with the homicide of Yazmeen Williams. The 31-year-old woman was found stuffed inside a sleeping bag and left next to a pile of trash on a Manhattan street.

The NYPD has classified her death as a homicide, stating that she was shot in the head. The person of interest, who was handcuffed to a stretcher, was taken into custody outside the Straus Houses, a NYCHA complex, by paramedics and transported to an ambulance. He was later questioned by detectives about his involvement in Williams’ death.

Dozens of locals swarmed around the 55-year-old man as he was brought outside on the stretcher, including the victim’s distraught mother, Nicole Williams. At least one individual landed a punch while others attempted to carry out their own version of street justice. The man, who remains unidentified by law enforcement, came face-to-face with Williams’ mother as he was put into the back of an NYU Langone ambulance.

You killed my daughter,” Nicole Williams screamed, pointing at the man being taken away on a stretcher. Others also berated him, including calling him a “crackhead.” One individual even yelled to “kill him.” After the ambulance drove off with its sirens blaring, investigators put their arms around Nicole Williams as she continued to grieve her daughter’s tragic death.

Williams had earlier in the day told The Post that she believes her daughter’s killer was a friend of hers who uses a wheelchair. The person of interest landed on the NYPD’s radar after being seen in an electric wheelchair dragging the sleeping bag, according to law enforcement sources. It remains unclear where the fatal shooting of Williams took place.
