Schiff Slams RNC’s Election Integrity Push, ‘This Is An Assault On Democracy

In a recent interview with former RNC chairman Michael Steele, California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff expressed concern over Republican National Committee efforts to ensure voter and ballot integrity during the November elections. Schiff criticized RNC co-chair Lara Trump’s pledge to pursue all legal avenues against anyone suspected of violating voting laws and procedures, suggesting that Republicans might be planning on cheating themselves.

During the interview, Steele played a clip of Trump stating, “We’re also sending a loud and clear message out there to anyone who thinks about cheating in an election. If you cheat in an election, we will find you, we will track you down, and we will prosecute you to the full extent of the law.” Schiff responded by accusing Republicans of hypocrisy, pointing to their “fake elector plot” as evidence that they are the ones trying to defraud voters.

Schiff went on to express concerns about potential voter suppression tactics from Republicans, such as having people intimidate others at polling places and spreading messages aimed at discouraging certain demographics from voting. He emphasized the importance of legitimate efforts to protect voters and ensure that all votes are counted, particularly in states where purges have made it more difficult for some individuals to vote.

Despite Republicans’ claims that they are not trying to prevent anyone from voting but rather ensuring the legitimacy of ballots, Schiff remains wary of their intentions. He believes that the outcome of the elections could hinge on whether Republicans succeed in validating legitimate votes and suppressing turnout through intimidation tactics.
