Trump’s Big Bucks Boost: Record-Breaking Fundraising Effort

Former President Donald Trump was convicted on charges related to a pre-election hush money payment made to a porn star before his 2016 victory, which legal experts from both the right and left have deemed to be contrived felonies. The Trump campaign has reportedly raised over $200 million in donations following this conviction, with nearly $53 million being raised in the immediate aftermath of the verdict, as reported by various social media posts and news outlets.

The total amount includes contributions pledged by Republican megadonor Miriam Adelson, who plans to invest tens of millions of dollars in a pro-Trump SuperPAC after evaluating other candidates during the primary. In 2020, the late Sheldon Adelson, a casino billionaire, and his wife were the top donors to the Preserve America PAC, contributing over $90 million to support Trump’s campaign.

According to a report from Politico, Adelson plans to contribute upwards of $100 million to Trump’s campaign once again. Adelson, the principal shareholder of Las Vegas Sands and a majority stakeholder in the Dallas Mavericks alongside her son-in-law, has an estimated net worth of $33.3 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The news comes as former President Trump is quickly closing in on Biden’s fundraising lead. After his conviction on 34 felony counts in the Manhattan “hush money” case, the Trump campaign raised over $50 million in just a few hours. This amount exceeded corrupt president Joe Biden’s total fundraising for the entire month of May.

Megyn Kelly, a top-rated SiriusXM podcaster, criticized Democratic prosecutors, politicians, and voters who supported the prosecution and conviction of former President Donald Trump in connection with a payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election, which came after New York and federal prosecutors previously found no cause to charge him. She also said GOP district attorneys and prosecutors should now do the same to top Democratic figures.

Kelly predicted that Republican prosecutors would eventually target high-profile Democrats like Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton, potentially reviving dead crimes or misdemeanors so that cases can be brought out of time. She argued that tit for tat is necessary to stop the Democrats from engaging in similar tactics in the future.
