Habba described the situation as a “serious state of affairs,” with people using tapes in illegal courtrooms and a judge intentionally preventing pre-trial proceedings from being reported. She added that crucial evidence was kept away from the jury, calling it “not America.” Habba urged MSNBC and CNN viewers to come together because this administration does not care about the country or its citizens.
Former President Trump responded to the guilty verdict by saying that the American people would deliver the real verdict on election day. He described the trial as a “rigged” one conducted by a corrupt, conflicted judge and emphasized that his supporters know what happened during the case. Trump vowed to continue fighting for the country’s constitution and pledged not to give up until justice is served.
Several Republican leaders have expressed support for Trump, condemning the trial as a “sham” or “hoax,” and calling for efforts to ensure his victory in the November election. House Speaker Mike Johnson said that Trump would rightfully appeal this absurd verdict and win, while Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell stated that he expects the conviction to be overturned on appeal.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise called for Republicans to stand with Trump against a “witch hunt,” while New York Rep. Elise Stefanik criticized the “sham trial.” South Carolina Senator Tim Scott claimed that the US justice system targets Republicans while favoring Democrats, saying that even those who were previously against Trump are now joining his team.
